IP stands for Ingress protection or International Protection Rating. IP
code consists of the
letters IP followed by two
digits. It is a classification system showing the degrees of
protection from solid objects and liquids. The first digit indicates the level
of resistance to foreign bodies and dust, the second digit indicates the level
of resistance to water infiltration. A higher value of the relevant digit
(first digit 0-6, second digit 0-8)
indicates a higher level of protection.
